Dancing With The Stars: Andy Richter Truthers Are Starting Wars On TikTok Right Now
Before we get too deep, you have got to hand it to the showrunners on Dancing With The Stars, for their integration of TikTok. Everyday on the platform feels like a Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning with everyone (including the celebrities and professionals) voicing their opinions on what has become a seriously dramatic (and messy) season 34.
Today, we’re going to talk about the Andy Richter truthers out there. They’re hostile, and they’ve long passed the point of sticking up for the underdog, late night sidekick, They are collectively demanding everyone to abandon the concept of rewarding strong performances, and make it a straight-out popularity contest.
The truth is that Andy Richter probably should have gone home first.
I understand that Corey Feldman, Baron Davis, and Lauren Jauregui just didn’t “get it”. They had to go (even if we deprived ourselves of Jenna Johnson, Britt Stewart, and Brandon Armstrong way too soon).
Hilaria Baldwin convinced herself that the audience was wrong for not falling in love with her, and it got her eliminated. But she was never an awful dancer (minus those spirit fingers).
Scott Hoying just had the worst time to have a bad night. You could argue that in a sudden death overtime situation, Andy actually won that battle.
But the Jen Affleck elimination was the first real time where the Andy Richter truthers made a conscious decision that their social experiment was worth continuing. And they were wrong for that. Jen could have been a real sweetheart ambassador for ABC, DWTS, “Mormon Wives” or any other brand you could give her.
Instead, it’s Andy Richter, who’s been famous and successful for 30 years that we’re falling behind. Okay.
Unfortunately, “Fan-dies” are now redefining the show. It’s not a dancing show anymore. It’s a new a exercise where we vote for the celebrity who can give us the opportunities to upset each other the most.
And yeah, its hard to be mad at showrunners for how much attention the product is getting.
But goodness, is it going to take a toll on audiences and cause some arguments.
What do you think? Is the Andy Richter phenomenon good or bad for the show. Let me know in the comments.
