The Dancing With The Stars viewership is one of the most marketable in all of television. Primetime. Disney owned. Everyone looks beautiful. And these are engaged fans that talk about the show between broadcasts.

But DWTS viewers also a flamethrower. They can light the path to bigger opportunities, or the flames can turn on you and singe you on the way out.

That’s what happened to Hilaria Baldwin. The author and wellness coach was sent home last night after an online TikTok campaign making fun of her jazz hands from last week.

Here is why the viewers never connected with her.

They felt she was disingenuous: Sometimes celebrities become a character and lose themselves. Viewers felt Hilaria was giving them an illusion of herself, instead of a real journey of inspiration and self improvement through dance.

Previous experience: Fans can go either way on celebrities who have danced before. They went negative on Hilaria, and while she tried to use it as a path to find her old self, viewers interpreted that as a champagne challenge from someone who is doing better than most of us ever will.

Ineffective Surrogates: While Alec Baldwin and Kris Jenner are super wealthy and successful, Dancing With The Stars viewers are already used to seeing them and don’t owe them anything. It also doesn’t help that they’ve each had their own controversies before.

She clapped back: When viewers were goofing her on TikTok, she actually commented on some of their videos and the answers weren’t well interpreted. That is what actually gave viewers the reason they needed to dislike her.

Hilaria Baldwin didn’t find her following on Dancing With The Stars. And even after her elimination there were some asking questions about why there was so much vitriol against her.

The DWTS audience just reacted that way.
