Fantasy Football: Carson Wentz May Help Justin Jefferson Slow Start

JJ McCarthy will miss the next 2-4 weeks after an ankle injury, which will push back the progress of the second year play caller after the Vikings won double digit games with Sam Darnold last year. Carson Wentz will start in his place.

Carson Wentz could perform: Carson Wentz was once an MVP candidate during his time in Philadelphia, and while he’s turned into more a journeyman over the past couple of years, he can’t do much worse than McCarthy has over the majority of the past two games.

Enter Justin Jefferson: Let’s be real. Jefferson has underperformed the first two games of the season. He’s got 7 catches on 13 targets for 125 yards and a touchdown. Wentz throws a decent long ball. This could utilize Jefferson’s home run hitting play making ability.

The Bengals: Are coming to town, setting up a battle of back up QBs. While they are technically undefeated, they allowed Joe Flacco and Trevor Lawrence to stay competitive against them. Wentz and a fired up Vikings team could do the same at home.

Bottom Line: Jefferson is still a must play WR1. Wentz is certainly not a must play. But its definitely not the end of the world when it comes to Jefferson’s potential.
